US- INDIA Relations: Past, Present and Future
President Bush and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reached a landmark
agreement on civilian nuclear energy cooperation on July 18, 2005. The
deal represents a notable warming of US-India relations and would lift the
US moratorium on nuclear trade with India. In addition, this agreement
would also expand US Indian cooperation in energy and satellite
technology. Considerable opposition to the deal from both the US and
Indian government has led many analysts to believe that the deal has been
shelved.
