“Like sculpture come to life, the entrancing Nrityagram Dance Ensemble of
India explores sacred rituals in a performance featuring a live original
score and a stunning female dance ensemble. The internationally acclaimed
company from Southern India transports viewers to enchanted worlds of
magic and spirituality with the sensuous flow of Odissi, the oldest of
India's classical dance forms.
Originally a sacred ritual, Odissi is marked by lyricism and curved body
lines that bring alive the ancient sculptures of India. Ancient wisdom,
sacred rituals and divine transfiguration will be unveiled and interpreted
through electrifying dance.
The performance will begin at 2pm on Sunday, March 2 at Memorial Hall on
the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill. Tickets for UNC students are $10. General
public ticket range: $20/$25/$35/$40. The Memorial Hall Box Office can be
