Great food Reviewed by Pallavi, 2006-10-16 This place is fantastic. The food actually tastes like Indian food back home.
Yikes !!! Reviewed by Guest, 2006-06-12 I went to Udipi the other evening. The Medu Vada was hard and not all tasty. Not to mention that my room mate makes better dosa than what they served me that day. Forget crispy, the dosa wasnt even hot. I guess the only reason Udipi survives is because it is one of the two South Indian restaurants in the Triangle. Two thumbs down all the way !!!!
good food Reviewed by Guest, 2006-06-12 Everytime I have been to Udipi the food has been very good. I have usually had the buffet lunch and it is great. I just love the masala dosa and they never go wrong with their sambar either. I would definitely recommend Udipi to anyone who wants goodauthentic south indian food.
okay food Reviewed by Guest, 2006-06-12 The food is ok...Tower offers better tasting south indian food.
decent Reviewed by Guest, 2006-06-12 The Food is very good at very afordable price in a neat contemporary environment. They really know how to do business through excellent service. I have never seen Indian resturant like this where the customer are treated as professionally as Udupi.
THE BEST ! Reviewed by Guest, 2006-06-12 I am a North Indian and I really love South Indian food. Also I am 100% non-vegiterian coz I eat non-veg every day. I ate in almost all Indian restaurants in Raleigh/Durham/RTP area, but didnt like any of them. I went to Udpi yesterday, but by that time the buffet was over. I took Malai Kofta and Paratha and Badam Halwa with Ice Cream. The food was excellent and tasty. Me and my wife really loved the food and I would love to eat there again and again !
perfect_food_craver Reviewed by Guest, 2006-06-12 Last week it was time to taste weekend buffet at Udipi. This was my third visit. First visits were during very initial days of restaurat opening. I found lot of difference from the initial days to current days. Old time it was really felt to be the authentic Udipi but as time has passed management has undergone change the true essence of Udipi seem to get faded away...... The first good impression excellent polite, warm young team which will make you comfortable. The same I expected with regard to food but some disappointment. Lot of variety of vegetables and three types of sweets, choice was ample. With regard to preparation recipes were made utterly in simple fashion. (Here I mean is, I expect some class ...they have to excell in texture and taste.) For e.g the tiny dosa's with green peas on them were shapeless. I would expect nice round shape. This shows the attitude that chef has just tried to finish the job. Second big error " vegetable named as vegetable Kurma was actually south indian version of Kurma which is called as AVIAL, but it was not even the Avial .The Real Avial is unfortunately not made by any restaurant owners in RTP(Even the so called Keralite Sitar owners are total fail on that) I still can point out little shorcomings in all other dishes. So my overall satisfaction cannot be rated as Good one.But as the general class fails to understand the genuine quality in food they will grade it excellant and will be out with very happy tummy. |
